Arriving in Japan with gel or acrylic from another salon? Before choosing an appointment, decide what you want afterward: bare natural nails, a new gel design, or new extensions. In Japanese booking menus, オフのみ means removal only, while 付け替えオフ means removal before a new application. Choosing the right route starts with that distinction.
BARON is a women-only nail salon.
This guide helps you explain an existing set to NailSalon BARON and ask for the correct booking menu. Removal of overseas products, acrylic, hard gel or another salon’s extensions must be confirmed individually. A menu label alone does not confirm that the salon can accept your particular set.
Which removal appointment do you need?
1. You want everything removed, with no new set
Ask for オフのみ (removal only). State whether the product is on your hands or feet, how many nails still have product, and whether you have extensions or large decorations. If you want your natural nails shortened or shaped afterward, include that request and ask what the appointment covers.
Do not select a replacement-removal add-on just because its displayed price looks lower. BARON Machida’s published booking menu, for example, separates removal-only appointments from removal options booked together with a new nail service. Check the conditions at the branch you plan to visit.
2. You want removal followed by gel on your natural nails
Explain both steps: オフして、自爪にジェルをしたいです (“I would like removal, then gel on my natural nails”). If your current set includes extensions, say that too. The product being removed and the service you want next can belong to different menu categories.
Send the new design reference separately from photos of your current nails. Ask which new-gel menu and removal option to select together.
3. You want removal followed by new extensions
Ask for removal plus 長さ出し (length extensions), and state how many nails need added length. Include your desired shape and length, even if the new artwork is simple.
Do not read スカルプ (“sculpt”) as a guarantee of a particular material. Tell the branch what your current extensions are made from, if known, and confirm the method for the new set. If you want a refill with some existing product retained, say so explicitly; a replacement-removal booking does not confirm a refill service.
4. The material is unknown, or the set has thick art or large parts
Start with a consultation before selecting a removal category. Write 素材が分かりません (“I do not know the material”), rather than guessing “gel” or choosing “no removal.” Mention raised 3D art, embedded decorations and large stones, with photos from above and from the side.
Photos help describe the set, but they may not identify the material. The branch may need to check it in person before confirming what is possible. Do not assume same-day removal or a new application can be added to a short appointment.
Japanese removal terms to recognize
| Japanese | English meaning | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| オフのみ | Removal only | No new application; confirm the included finishing steps. |
| 付け替えオフ / 付替オフ | Removal before a new application | Which new-service menu must be booked with it? |
| オフあり / オフなし | With removal / without removal | Tell the salon about any product that remains, even on one nail. |
| 他店 / 自店・当店 | Another salon / this salon | Name where the current set was applied; ask how a different BARON branch is classified. |
| ジェルオフ | Gel removal | Give the exact gel type or product name if known. |
| スカルプ・長さだしオフ | Extension removal category | Confirm how your acrylic or tip-based set should be booked. |
| ゴテゴテ / パーツ / 3D | Heavily decorated nails / decorative pieces / raised art | Show the size, thickness and number of decorated nails. |
Soft gel, hard gel, acrylic and tip extensions are not interchangeable product descriptions. Removable press-on nails are another case: tell the salon how they were attached, if you know. If your previous salon’s receipt or product information names the material, save it with your photos. You do not need to translate a brand name or identify a product from its appearance.

Prepare one clear enquiry
Collect these details before contacting your chosen branch:
- Current set: material or “unknown,” where it was applied, hands or feet, and the number of nails with product or extensions.
- Photos: both hands from above, a side view showing length and thickness, and close-ups of large parts or areas you want checked.
- Desired finish: removal only, new gel, new extensions, or a request to discuss retaining existing product.
- Practical limits: preferred dates, total budget including removal and extras, and the time you need to leave.
Do not peel off your set to prepare for the appointment. Mention lifting, cracks or discomfort in advance so the salon can discuss whether a nail appointment is appropriate before you book.

Before finalizing, check the branch, date, removal selection and desired service afterward. Ask for the full estimated cost rather than assuming a removal discount applies to your material or to removal-only. Keep the confirmed booking details: sending photos or an enquiry alone does not reserve an appointment.
For salon information and consultation options, visit the BARON English page. To discuss your visit, message BARON’s official Instagram account or contact us on official LINE with your reference images, chosen branch, preferred dates and current nail photos. An enquiry alone does not confirm an appointment.
